What else can I say, it is a weapon. Took one for a spin on Sunday with Merv & Kieran at Rye. Took only a couple of minutes to get used to it and then we had went on a quick blast out to the Fort, back to Blairgowrie in a strengthening wind and then finally a fast reach along the coast to Rye.
Fair chance next time I get on the Outback I will forget it doesn't have ama's.
A couple of pic's.
Offshore will be next
Merv has made a quick video, noothing exciting and minimal fishing was done.

Re: Testing the A.I.
I've been using my R13 a bit more lately than my AI and it felt a bit tippier without the amas the first few trips out. Got used to it again though, but it definitely feels different without them

Yeah little tragic when an outback feels tippy...
Careful Mav it may seriously eat into your fishing time I have way too much fun cruising around now that trolling and reeling in fish is just annoying half the time

Re: Testing the A.I.
Thats what worries me about taking an AI for a spin. Its bad enough how good the outback/sidekick/sail goes and becomes a distraction... you start tacking and just end up forgetting about the rod...
Live long, fish hard and hopefully catch something.

Re: Testing the A.I.
You know what - since I've had the A.I. I've caught far fewer fish than ever before (I've never been a gun fisho, anyway!)...
The sailing really does take over, but you'll find you don't mind at all. You'll never forget the first time the wind catches in
the sail and you find yourself flying over the water!
Some people take out their A.I. minus sail and just one outrigger, which makes a very stable (and still fast) fishing platform.
I thought of trying it, but when I look at the sail, I just can't resist taking the whole set-up onto the water.
I never had any interest in sailing (always thought it looked like a bit of a yawn), and bought the A.I. for its stability and
distance-covering ability, but once you have a good nice sessions on the A.I. it really does get under your skin.
Mike.

Re: Testing the A.I.
There will be an A.I. posse' down your way soon over summer - better reserve a parking space Mingle.
I grew up sailing and loved it. If I get one, I think it will open up more (but different) opportunites

I made this vid back in 2012 when helping out AK&S and SLH at the Hobie Island Big Day Out.
Gives a fair idea of what the Islands are all about.
