Maiden voyage ideas.

Questions new members commonly ask e.g. Which kayak should I buy?

Maiden voyage ideas.

Post by makro »

Gday Folks,

I picked up my kayak earlier in the week :yahoo:

Now I am looking to go out on the water Sunday 5th July, was thinking Lillydale lake as this is where I had done the initial demo day. I live in Keilor and was wondering if there is anything closer? I could do the Maribyrnong river, but dont know the launch points?

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Makro

Its actually further but Blue Rock is amazing. Good chance of brown trout or reddies. Bass as well (not thag I can seem to tempt them)
Main advantage is the wind is nearly nonexistent under most conditions as it sits cradled in the mountains.
Launching is easy as - check it out in the launching section.
If you want something closer - check the launch section but Albert Park Lake in the CBD could be worthwhile
Live long, fish hard and hopefully catch something.

Werribee river is pretty close and an easy launch from the boat ramp.

Canning St park on the maribyrnong is the closest. It would be a good starter. Shelter from wind and no chop deal with

Or straight off the beach, no trolley required any tide

Those spots are mainly for the lower nong. The upper part of the river has plenty of launch s0ots. One of the easiest is thexsea scouts ramp just downstream from the Maribyrnong Rd bridge.

Hey Guys,

Having lived there all my life, there's plenty of excellent launch spots in Aberfeldie. I would say the best is the Essendon rowing club, good close parking, easy carry or trolley down to water.
