new 2015 Hobie Outback overview

Post by vikodin »

For the fans of the hobie outback here's a peak at the new 2015 model.
The flat floor is something I like the look of for standing up.
Seat I am eager to see in person, I'm sick of the current one.
Bearings in a mirage drive  :wtf:

Dissapointed they don't come with the rectangular tackle hatch from standard.

I'd love to see Hobie make a fish box for the whole rear of the outback like the Ocean Kayak one. Cheater's new yak has one. It could go all the way back to the rudder as the rear hatch on outbacks aren't used on the water and are only really there for access to the rudder connections.

The seat looks cool but i'll personally be happy with the drier drivewell. Damn my feet get cold even with kokatats and dive boots..................edit Bretty has told me he uses crocs and fits the dive boots once on board. Neoprene dive boots dont dry quickly.

Any 2015 Outback owners here?
How are you finding the yak? How is the seat and drive holding up?

I've been thinking about upgrading to the new Outback from old, my back gets sore after a while atm

Love it. You won't regret it.

Dryer well. More storage. Can't really give you a negative.

My seat is great as is the drive. What else would you like to know?
Live long, fish hard and hopefully catch something.

The old outback seat was a joke to most people including me but the new seat looks awesome and so do the other mods.

I've spent a few years in the old outback and was one of the first to purchase the 2015 so been in the new one for quite a while now.
I was starting to really hate the old outback seat with a passion so was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to upgrade.
The new seat hasn't disappointed me at all its poles apart, so comfy compared to the old style.

The mirage is another bonus, it feels so much easier on the legs, there is a really noticeable feeling of less friction.
I also like to stand up to take a piss, casting or just jumping off for a swim in summer so the new flat deck design is another thing I love.
Less water holds in the mirage well too!

I would definitely recommend the new one to anyone and even reckon current owners should do what I did and sell the old and buy the new, there is a great deal at AKS on them atm
