KAYAK STAND,ROCKETT LAUNCHER @ CAMERA MOUNT

Post by tootsie »

Hi all.

Just thought i would show you the mods i have made for my yak.

Kayak stand..
Rockett launcher..
Camera mount..

The stand is made out of 40mm pvc pipe.

Rocket launcher made from 32mm pvc pipe..

Camera mount made from the centre leg of a cheap tripod
then fitted to some poole noodle that fits into front scupper
hole.

Very easy mods any one can do,if you want any more info feel free to ask.

Cheers..

I love the kayak stand and simple as camera mount. Good thinking.

You must be taller than me, other wise it's go go gadget arms to get the rods in and out of those rocket launchers. I'd have to reduce the distance from the seat by half to be able to use them, but then you'd have a crate clearance issue. Have you tried it on the water? I'd like to know how you go.. It would be great for trolling lures though. Put 4 deep divers on and you'd have to paddle hard to keep moving forward :D

Nice work on the mods, and I had a similar thought about the rocket launcher. I think it is possible to heat the pvc and then bend it so the rocket launcher sits more vertically. Might make access to the rods easier. Getting gear from behind you in a yak can be a bit of a pain, without putting the legs in the water.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

You could also grab a couple of PVC 45deg angle joiners and whack them in the middle of the "legs" to bring it closer to vertical.

I had to shorten my launchers down a bit due to them being too tall to get the rods out of easily.
Don't forget to allow for the butt of the rod. e.g. when you reach around and grab a rod out of the launchers, you tend to grab the rod near the reel. When I tested mine, I could grab the rod but I wasn't able to lift it completely out of the launcher without having to shift my grip further down the rod. So I shortened the launchers enough to allow me to get most of my rods out with one swift move. I still have trouble with rods that have the extra extension on the bottom grip but it's definitely easier now that the tubes are shorter.
Poised on the edge of sanity.

Hi all.

No problems at all with the launcher,i am 180cm in height and can reach the rods.
I had a test run and worked out the height needed. The crate is easy to get to as well
no problems.

As with all yaks nothing is square or even so there is a bit of a lay back with the
launcher.Just take your time when making one, enjoy the simple thinks with a kayak
as making things for them is part of the fun.

If anyone needs any more info please feel free to ask.

From a Sydney yakker.

Cheers.

Glenn..
