Setting up EPIRB for Offshore

Hi Gents, hopefully OK to set up a new topic here. I've had a quick search and can't find a great deal on the approach. You tube doesn't reveal a lot. How and where are you folks setting up your EPIRBS? I've got mine ready to go and I thought I'd get an idea or two if there's any conventional set-ups.

Thanks :)

Mine has the bracket bolted to the top of my prowler ice box on the hinge side - it's out of the way and can be accessed ether sitting on the yak or swimming beside it
the cord is fixed to the ice box but also can be unclipped and clipped to my PFD or where ever needed

I also made a bit of a cover out of a piece of poly down pipe that also is easy to remove ( just to shade it from the sun and splash a bit )

to deploy its just remove the cover ( 2 bungys just pull out of the way ) and unclip the unit from the std bracket
switch on and let float in the water

hope that is some help

Mine lives in a satchel attached to the back of my seat. If its really rough I can sit it beside the seat with a bungy tether to my pfd.

Mines currently in a drybag because it neither yak was going to be a permanent home for it. The plan for the new yak is to attach it to the hatch lid just behind me. Like Cheaters that will also make it easy to access swimming beside the yak.

Mine is also in the satchel attached to the back of my seat, in rough weather I have a place for it in the back of my life jacket (the life jacket came with a spot designed for one) - but I haven't resorted to placing it there yet.

I finally splashed the cash on an EPIRB in preparation for the Portland comp in Jan 2018, but can't for the life of me find a good place to mount it on a Revo 13. As it measures 30 cm from top to bottom, it's not exactly compact. Any thoughts welcome :?:

Can you attach it to the seat back somehow?
Its one of those things that needs to be out of the way but easy to reach!
I haven't seen a Revo up close for a while so not sure on space another option could be the front bulkhead if it is out of the reach of your pedal stroke?

Thanks Eoin, the front bulkhead is definitely a possibility as it would be clear of the pedals (I think), but it's the place where I place the cooler bag for the fish if I'm sitting on an anchor fishing for snapper. Another possibility is mounted horizontally on the gunwale between the rod holder and the front bulkhead, as long as the EPIRB doesn't mind the ocassional wave or two over it. I'll have another look at it in the morning.

I've started storing mine in a dry bag in the hull of the AI. I figure that if/when I need to use it, opening the hatch shouldn't be an issue.

Otherwise if you have a crate on the rear deck you can store it upright in there. The other option is mounting the bracket it came with somewhere on the front or rear edge of the back deck. Also on the underside of the hatch lid.
