Coming soon - Hobie Revo 16.

Post by maverick »

This is the new longer Revolution. Should make a great offshore/long distance touring yak. May be in the SLH store by the end of the year.

Yep, just saw that. I noticed some feedback on facebook about the new models, so I thought I would clarify the new models as told to me. Be keen to see the new models in person once they arrive.

That front hatches isn't as accessible as the standard Revo

Do you reckon there is a real market for this?

Did not notice that until you mentioned it. Looks a bit harder to get at than the 11/13.

Looking forward to seeing them as well  . I think the seat will be better for my wife, and gives me an excuse to get another yak (possibly outback this time) .

Just checked with SLH - their expectation was for a new Revo 16 - what they have been given is a re-badged Adventure. Very disappointed.

Everyone who said it is rebadged Adventure is correct.

So the expectation for a new Adventure is ????

Given the new AI hull is slightly longer and looks to have a somewhat different profile sitting a little fatter in the front and rear to the 16 along with different hatch positions in the rear... I wonder if it'll be released as a single hull or the 16 completely replaces the line and no more adventure.

I have been using my Ai as a single a bit lately. It feels so much faster than my revo. It flys. Even if it's a rebadged adventure I would not mind it as it would weigh a little less than my ai as a single. And I hate my ai seat so I might have a place.

Couldn't see the point of a single hull adventure and a revo 16 sold side by side. Maybe teh new adventure will be more dedicated to the island format

The Revo 16 could be fairly called a re-badged Adventure, though it will be a tad lighter as the daggerboard well has been removed (and marginally faster to because the hull base will be slightly more hydrodynamic because of it). In some ways it might be a little disappointing to some that it hasn't been overly revamped (its always interesting to see what Hobie can come up with next), but to be honest it really doesn't need to be changed - they pretty much got it right to begin with. I'd rather fish out of an Adventure than any other kayak in the range. Its faster, paddles better, and is more stable than most people would assume. I'm not quite sure why the Adventure has fallen out of favour so much because it use to be far more popular than it is today. I guess its got a lot to do with the perception that a kayak has to be a barge (excessively stable) to be suitable for fishing, but for those who are actually pretty competent kayakers, stability really isn't an issue. It is equally stable to the Revo 13, despite being a tad thinner (extra waterline length and lower centre of gravity helps). It will be interesting to see how it fares with the new seat, but the current Adventure is a hell of a yak. Some things don't need to be changed. I always felt that way about the Quest to and I still prefer the old one to the new one.

No. The new Adventure Island utilizes a completely new hull design, and its sexy as. Forward raked bows baby!

Maybe, yes. Thats what I thought would happen. If the new Revo 16 sells poorly - and I suspect it will in Victoria - they might just do that down the track.
