Not having much luck with that combo mate!!RayS wrote:Love the new Kingy, but totally cheesed off with the way the retailer installed one of the rod holders. No sooner got on the water yesterday morning than the right hand side holder simply fell off ,taking my drunken monkey/Freams set up with it. Fortunately I was just mounting the yak so was only a couple of feet of water and got it all back. Closer inspection and found that the star port had only been held in place by maybe two turns of each mounting screw. And weight of the (extremely light) out fit was enough to put it over the side
Not happy Jan!!!

Not much luck at all. Dunked twice now and nothing landed. But I think it's my lack of skill, not the outfit....lol. I will persevere though. I AM going to master this ultra light fishing game.
cheers Ray

The thing that cheeses me off about my kayak is that its not a PA14.
Apart from that I love it.

For the hatch, try some 25 mm sticky foam tape, put in a v shape starting from the centre of the hatch and ending the sides above the hinges (you'll see what i mean looking at it) when you open the hatch the water runs off the side and not into your hatch. For the o' rings on the hatches, try some inox or light rubber grease.PoddyMullet wrote:Hobie Revo. Hobie Paddles are flimsy, my number 1 gripe. Centre hatch dumps water and squid juice inside, and O rings get twisted.

My Hobie Kona is a bastard as a tandem as both passengers get a wet ass and its hard to steer, as a solo (it has a third seat in the middle) its not to bad, stable, tons of room, it does have that silly hobie front that slaps through waves and slows you down, all in all its not too bad for what I want.
and the extra scupper holes are great for growing blackberries through

People laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at them because they're all the same.

Hobie 2010 outback
1: it's not a pa
2: wish it went faster
3: no (fast way) of making it reverse
4: rings on hatches are not chem resistant and any lube Cept water based makes them swell,
Even with new chem safe one from bearing whole sales it sticks a fair bit and needs t be forced
5: bad hull slap from the pointy end
6: it's not an AI
7: even though stable enough to stand it, it doesn't have a good area to stand.
Yeah that's it for now.
I yeah, drain plug sux!!

Inox won't swell the standard o rings, i've been using it on my 3 Hobies since 2008.Drifta-X wrote:Hobie 2010 outback

Re: Your yak, what cheeses you off?
For sticky O rings, cut a couple of cm out, rejoin with superglue reinforced with a shrink wrap sleeve, closes much better.
The water draining issue would be simple for hobie to fix by taking that adhesive tape principle and just incorporate a profile lip in the hatch lid design

My PA12
Rear 8" hatch cover jams with OEM seal and leaks.
Worn through seat - fixed under warranty
Cops heaps of water into cockpit from side when under way with very small chop
Standard trolley rubbed on bottom of yak until spacer made to keep it higher.
Super sensitive steering - have to be constantly on it and cannot leave it on track.
Always gets water in hull - even on calm trip.
oh, Broken crank arm
