Re: FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY.
Hey fellers.
I took the outback out today to auravale lake and for someone who has paddled for a while now was blown away by the peddling.
At first I was so unko with the controls (forgot to drop the rudder) and the the pedals where at factory settings and my legs felt like I was doing a thousand squats at the gym till I sorted it all out.
Once sorted it was effortless and I covered a heap of ground.
The stability was amazingly stable and I was standing up with out to much problems at all.
I really feel turbo fins would be awesome(not that I've tried them before) but I reckon more speed is all ways welcome.
Bring on the accessories.

Re: FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY.
Gozz, is the Outback more stable than the PA because you sit in it (lower centre of gravity) rather than on it in the new PA? I'm leaning to the PA, but any knowledge is power!Gozz wrote:After a 6 months wait I FINALLY got my new Outback.
My mate got a blue one as well.
Now the pimping begins.

Re: FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY.
To tell u the truth I haven't been in a pa and can't tell u but my mate who has a pa and outback reckons the pa is heaps more stable.
It's amazing how stable a outback is so the pa must be mind blowing stable.
The pa does have more storage but I fish super light gear wise so storage isn't a problem.
U really need to have a look at a pa close up cause the thing is a battle ship , but if kayak weight isn't a problem then the pa would be my choice.
Something to consider.

Re: FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY.
Hey guys.
I went out with a couple mates today for a play/fish, we took out 3 x outbacks and 1x PA14.
The PA was the only one with turbo fins and the rest standard fins.
I clocked my outback flat out (GPS) at 7kph which was hard to stay at but 6kph was much easier to stay on for a longer time.
I put my mate's turbo fins on and flat out I was getting 8kph but I could stay at that speed much easier and the strokes seemed smoother and not short and sharp like the standard fins.
The PA, wow what a machine.
It's stable like a boat, I was standing on it and moving around with out any feeling of falling in.
The outback was also very stable, I fished standing up heaps but I was always aware of the stability and couldn't take my mind of balancing for to long.

Re: FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY.
Welcome to the Outback Club . I have the big rudder and turbo fins etc. Carry a lot of gear and I am a big unit so my speeds are 5kmh cruising, 6kmh really giving it a go and a top of 7kmh absolutely sprint for about 10 seconds.

Re: FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY.
Thanks Big Pete.
I finally got out today with the new turbo fins and sailing rudder.
What can I say it's the best $150 I've spent.
The longest trip I've done to date with standard fins has been about 1.5km and It was fairly hard going.
Today I did a straight 2.6km each way with out stopping, my pace is now a little quicker but ease of moving along is just so much easier.
The rudder is also much better cause the kayak tracks straight so I'm not adjusting my steering every second, it also turns much quicker.
So the moral of this story is get some Turbo fins and a sailing rudder.

Drilling is a dirty word mate. Hahaha
Na so far I'm pretty much fully set up and I haven't drilled a hole yet.
