I'm interested in the PA 14 and below is what I think I need. Have I left anything out???

1 x Hobie 2013 Mirage PA 14 Kayak (with Advantage seat); Papya in colour
1 x Anchor Trolley
1 x Trax 2 wheels (inflatable)
1 x Drift Chute
1 x anchor to suite
1 x PFD
2 x rod holders suitable for spinning reel & bait caster
1 x Lowrance Elite 5 Sounder/GPS with Navtronics card for Australia (or an equivalent or better) fitted.
1 x mounting plate for Fish finder
1 install kit for fish finder includes battery @ charger
1 x Rhino T-Bar loader to suit a 2007 Landcruiser Prado

I would appreciate any comments as I'm new to Yak fishing & retired! In particular I am interested in what members think is the best PA for Yak fishing!

all good, but get a flag and light set up also....and that will do you fine..
Thanks Neil, that would be a good idea. I will take it on board when I get a quote today.

All good but you got the colour wrong everyone knows olive PA's catch more fish
Kingo is the colour that critical? I leaned to the Papaya colour for safety; easier in my opinion to be seen. However thanks for your thoughts. JeffG

He was just kidding. Colour makes no difference to the fish.
You are wise to go for a bright colour for safety.

I assume you've already got some roof racks?

Flag/light

Don't forget some rope for your anchor and a large handline reel (or something else) to wrap it around.
1m of chain should be between the anchor and rope too, especially in higher current areas like WPB.
Also, a float to put on the rope if you wish (handy if you need to ditch the anchor/rope to chase a fish. Mark where you ditched it on your GPS, then come back to the float later and retrieve the anchor/rope)
If you know the deepest depth of the water you'll be anchoring in, take that depth and double it, then buy that much rope.
e.g. If the deepest water you'll anchor in is 20m, get 40m of rope.

The other gear I'd highly recommend are Kokatat T3 Tempest pants (dry pants with inbuilt socks http://www.kokatat.com/products/bibs-an ... s-men.html) and some water friendly footwear to protect the socks.
Thank you for your thoughts HaTTers, particularly the clothing. Do most Yak fishers use an anchor or just drift, or use the drift net?

No worries.

Regarding anchor or drift: I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it depends on the type of fishing I'm doing and the conditions at the time.
For bait fishing, I'm usually anchored.
For lure fishing, I'm usually drifting.
70% of the time I'm drifting, but that's because 70% of my fishing is lure fishing.

In the past, I haven't bothered to use a drift chute, but I just bought a proper chute (rather than my home made effort) and plan to use it in the future.

At long last I'm going down to SLH on Tuesday to have ride on a PA 14 and get an idea of prices.

Cheers
