Wondering if anyone has any particular areas they feel are protected from Westerly winds that are still beginner-intermediate friendly.
Thinking Sorrento towards Blairgowire, and I suppose Flinders front beach, around the pier.

can't help you with PPB but westernport - Wooleys Beach ( between Cribb point and stony point ) with 1/2 tide and up can be muddy at lower tides - the tide runs a bit so beware of that
Shoreham and Flinders are also worth a look

Flinders might get a bit swelly and there isn't a lot of fishing area in the protected part in a westerly. Tide can flow quite hard there as well.
Blairgowrie/Sorrento is a good option particularlyy if there is a little south in the wind, just check the tidal flows as well. It can flow quite hard there.

Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

yeah I figured that Flinders would be a little tricky. Sorrento it is!
