Thinking of fitting some more "stuff" to my Yak Attack track and was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could get more of these threaded studs from? either exact of something similar. I was hoping to buy something like a Threaded bonding fastener: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=thre ... 36&bih=856 but cont seem to find anywhere that sells them individually

Carbatec in Springvale used to carry that type of item for tracks on machinery, a chandler may also be able to help as I have similar fittings on travellers.
Looking at your location there was a chandler in Williamstown on the waterfront near the end of the main street, can't remeber the name of either.

If you google 'T-bolt' instead you should get some suppliers, just check the width of your track.
Most roof rack companies will have them in various sizes as they are used to attached accessories to the channels on crossbars.

if it were me I would just get a piece of stainless flat and some stainless allthread - cut to size and weld them up to suit what ever I was fitting

but that's me

Thank you both. I see the "t-bolt" is coming up with stuff for roof racks too. interesting.

I suppose if i had the bits lying around....and the means to weld I would probably give it a go. maybe I should pop around to a fab shop and see if they would be able to knock me up half a dozen.

If you're offering ;)
i need two:

The flat is 13mm x 25mm (not massively important) x 3mm

M5 x 30mm should do

A fab shop would most likely charge a too higher price to fabricate them, as you don't weld, dont make your own, learn to weld first.
Either find a supplier or have a friend make them if you supply the parts, make sure it's/they are at least 304 stainless ;)

The only reason i say don't make them yourself is the cost, and if you don't weld them properly they will break. :(
Another simple way to make the is just use the hex head bolt size you want and build up the hex head with a ss rod that suits the size (gauge) of the hex head. This is how i made some for adding attachments to my rails, i just built it up then ground it down to make it work, just make sure of were you place the earth clamp(not on the thread).

Buy a cheaper inverter welder and fabricate all your own gear ;) lol

Looks very much like a geartrac t-bolt

Check your measurements here....

SLHobie should be able to help you out. I have a spare which I am also happy to pass on.

I saw some track port mounts at Capacity Sports in Moorabbin a couple of months ago.
If the threaded stud is a must for what you are mounting you could locktite the bolt to the flat nut and cut the head off the bolt.

Thats exactly what it's from, well actually the photo is from a scotty geartrack mount.

I have a ronstan cam cleat to that I'm wanting to mount to track for my anchor system - rather than drilling another hole in the yak for the cleat I thought i'd make use of the spare portion of track I currently have

Thanks, this is exactly what I'm after. I could work with the flat and simply use a longer bolt from the top, rather than what I originally thought, which was using a stud and having a nut on top. the big disadvantage I had with my original plan is that I needed approximately 30mm length of thread on the t-bolt which was excessivly long for M thread size.

I could use the railblaza flat portion with longer bolts which I already have. A bit pricey, but without the facilities to make my own, it may be the best option. Cheers
