Lobo does yoga in his PA on the ocean - but then he is a freak.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

Re: Standing up in a PA14
I have an outback that I stand and fish off regularly. As brett said standing up to squid fish makes a big difference to how you work the jig and the amount of water you cover, same goes for fishing plastics in the bay. As others have said it really comes into its own when you are fishing to structure. Only downside imo is loss of propulsion and reduced steering but if you can get your drift right that doesn't matter.

Some people wanna stand from time to time, some don't. I do if it's calm just for a bit of a stretch. The added height (even @ 5'9") also helps if you are polaroiding reef or fish. Transition slowly and try to maintain 3 points of contact (2 hands 1 foot, 2 feet 1 hand) on the yak while moving and maintain a wide stance. You could also try a short length of rope tied to either the bow handle or a Ram mast hole post to assist you a little because of your bulk.

Re: Standing up in a PA14
Hey Chris, I'm 6'4" and stand in my kayak all the time, to pee, cast lures (particularly metal slugs at salmon, but also squid jigs when I'm looking for a break.
I stand up in all sorts of conditions and never find it an issue. On Sunday I was standing to pee on the 90 minute pedal back from french island against tide and wind, even with the waves it was fine, just had to be alert.
Nathan from this forum is an inch taller than me, and 25kgs heavier, he seems to stand without issue as well.
Shane is right about how hard it is to tip a PA, I suggest you don the wet suit and give re-entry a practice and see just how hard it is to tip a PA whilst standing up. I imagine falling in is easy if you trip on something, which is why I don't walk anywhere when standing.

Also good for getting lures out of trees
Live long, fish hard and hopefully catch something.

The more you do it the easier it gets, one of the best things for your core muscles is balancing.
