Hi all,
I've had 2 fishing trips with my new Yak. Both times I've been getting bites and every time I'm getting nothing on the hook and my bait has been attacked. See pic attached, am I missing the bites or is my bait crab food? I've been holding onto the rod for better bite detection and nothing landed yet?
Cheers

What species are you trying to catch?
You could always try a smaller hook it may just be smaller fish having a nibble, that way you will know for sure.

Most likely small pinkies or flathead etc in that area. As BJ said try a smaller hook or move away from the smaller fish and keep persevering.

Change one hook to small #6. Could be pinkies/LJs/toadies.
If you ever suspect crabs in an area then a paternoster with long lead to sinker kept taunt and nearer to vertical will keep bait off bottom away from crabs

Cheers chaps, I'll try the smaller hooks next outing to start with. Need to get off the mark!
