First day of summer and Mornington/Hastings had a busy day with 6 rescues across WP and PPB.
One involved the helicopter airlifting 2 guys out of WP around 9:30 pm.
We can all make presumptions about these incidents, however if anyone has some first hand info, maybe you could share it with us so we can all learn.
The weather predictions for the afternoon/evening were for increasing winds and heavy rain later.

The kayaker at Werribee was rescued by one of the Jetski guys not VMR so wouldn't be included in their tally.

Ian and myself watched the rescue chopper heading out from geelong in an easterly direction, it was pretty ruff out wide, we were 1km out and the swell was big enough at times to wonder about.

Great work Erik. Both the kayaking and boating communities appreciate the work that you do in Western Port and the piece of mind that you can be called on in an emergency.

With allot of these incidences there is not all of information after the event. What went wrong and any recommendations. eg unsuitable kayaking or boating conditions, inappropriate kayak or boat for the conditions or inadequate safety gear.
