Yakass your posts have been very balanced and fair so no such thoughts harboured here.
What I had hoped to convey is the Seller is left copping the feedback and the manufacturer sits on their hands on issues that will cost them anything to remedy.

I fish my PA off Williamstown and plan to continue to do so.

Good thing about Willy is you dont have to go far out. So its not a slog getting back if it turns nasty. Which it can on a southerly or South westerly. I have found myself in some borderline scary conditions there, and glad I didn't have far to go. In fact south westerlies are worse, as they can unpredictably swing from an OK westerly to rough SW coming all the way up from Portarlinton. Whereas a southerly is more predictable.

Worst case was I had gone for a nice trip up the Yarra after launching Newport angling club. When I came back and rounded the sea wall I was faced with 20knot plus SWerly headwind and white caps, rather than the mild 10 knot westerly predicted. Had no choice but to get back to Newport, as its all rocks with no alternative landing. The revo 16 saw some serious air time, hul slamming and nose diving. Was a buzz, but not for the novice, and doubt I could have done it in a PA. That is why I got a revo 16, Quest couldn't have done it. Been caught at least 3 times with unexpected huge waves at Willy, and I pick wussy conditions to head out.

I'm purposely staying out of much this discussion but since drive issues have come up I'll just add one comment. I experience a similar rate of drive failures on the AI as I have on the PA (chains, idlers, cranks, pins, drums). I expect it's more a function of a big body (and longer cranks/bigger fins) pushing the drive past it's design limits while propelling heavy yaks (AI & PA). Someone who doesn't push a yak as hard would experience far fewer failures. I just accept it's likely to happen and come prepared to deal with it on the water.

I have been waiting for your name to pop up in this debate :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: . Certainly worth taking advice from, as I have from the past.

I can thoroughly recommend the surf day to all yakkers, in particular PA owners. Shane has been there done that on PA's so if he is there do not miss the opportunity to pick up on his experiences.
