Have both. PLB is a man overboard application. eg ocean racers would have epirb for vessel and each crew member with PLBYako wrote:I have mine attached to my (non inflatable) pfd on my shoulder so if I'm in the water it's above the water line (I've checked) If I'm face down nothing's going to help
If you get separated from your yak like the bloke off Wilsons Prom in Nov last year how does an Epitb help???

I thought I read on Maritime Australia site that one shouldn't deploy both Epirb & PLB, is that correct?

Re: EPIRB or PLB Hot Potato
I guess you shouldn't do it without real cause as it could cause confusion. But if you had activated an EPIRB, then subsequently got separated than its quite reasonableYako wrote:sounds good, my epirb needs new batteries to keep it legal, PLB is still goodlaneends wrote:

If your EPIRB is attached to you it will still work it is water proof and designed to float and operate floating on the waterYako wrote:
