Not Your Average Flatty Lure

Post by erik the viking »

John Costello has been producing excellent quality fishing videos for ages.
With his latest one on 'Big Flatty Lures' , you could be mistaken he was talking about targeting murray cod by the size of these swimbaits.

The old Daiwa Double Clutch on a 1-3kg flick stick is no more. It is dwarfed by the 15-30lb for 1-5oz monster he is using.
Saves going to the gym I suppose? Just spend a few hours launching a few of these swimbaits. :yahoo:

For sure they are around, there was one living in the clifton springs habour but some kids caught it last season I've caught some good sized ones when fishing for snapper or gummies, i always let most of my flatties go.

Both of the other places you mentioned have a lot more blue spots than ppb.
A large amount of the flathead population in ppb is made up by various species of sand flathead that don't get big by the standards of other flathead
