Thought I would remind you folks of the Daiwa TV series produced by Mark Berg.
It's on Ch 73 (7Mate) and the quality of the production is good.
The snapshot here is from the latest one regarding kayak fishing around Melbourne.
This includes the Yarra, Maribyrnong, the moored boats at Willy and the sticks at Port Melbourne.

I was up at Nagambie Lakes last week and this reminded me of what is facing the anglers venturing up to that region.
Although these stick are definitely more visible than the ones up there!
Oh, and these guys fish it with 3 or 4 lb.

Others in the series have included estuary perch, Sydney Harbour, Snowy Mountains small stream trout, bream in the oyster racks.

I was sitting in my suite on a cruise ship last year looking longingly at those "sticks".

Princess pier fish their a few times. Haven't had the guts to go in like they did. Good luck hooking onto something of size...

I've fished off the end of the pier and thrown into the sticks as well for pinkies. Obviously like the structure.

It's been so long that I forgot about that minor issue.

the reverse helps right up until you get bricked

In all seriousness I reckon the reverse in that sort of structure gives you a false sense of security, I prefer chasing the fish and keeping the fight vertical.
