Hobie sail diamentions.

Post by Drifta-X »

Looking at making a copy of the hobie sail for the outback.
I have a diagram with some measures but need one for to get to right.
If you have one could u measure from the mast pole to the tip (near where the rope connects.
I have made it 1150 and want to see if that's correct. Changing this measurement shorter could meen I get more head clearance.
This the measure I got to far.

Just buy the TI, don't muck around with this type of sail, it's very hard to make. You are better off making a vee sail like cheaters.

There's a geeza on eBay selling a very similar sail (but slightly greater area) to suit most yaks
including the hobies. It comes witha furler too, so it's a complete package - much easier than
mucking around making one. They cost around 300 bucks though...

Looks like a plan is comming together. What sort of mast are you planning on using, I do remember seeing some where some body had put a mast design up with a home made furler.

Scrumptious did the furler.
Ill use either alloy or stainless tube, see what's laying around or at the local metal recyclers.
