After getting stooged on ebay for a cheap saragosa 10k with it not even being delivered to me, I got my money back and decided to invest in a penn conflict II 6k. Also got a steal in the rod with a hamachi nano ultra cast 30-50 pound popper rod for $80 down from $400 due to cosmetic scuffs in the rod butt. Now I just need to do a trip up north

Spewing about the gosa but the rod makes up for it, we'll have to hit a few ledges over summerLvyakker wrote:After getting stooged on ebay for a cheap saragosa 10k with it not even being delivered to me, I got my money back and decided to invest in a penn conflict II 6k. Re: Bought Something new wanna share it? Post it here
Brian (vicyak) suggested an extra rod to use to soak bait or whatever extra I may want to do as currently I only owned two rods.
Had a chat with mick at hooked on and as always came out with a decent choice. Not expensive and chosen to be a bit heavier than my other rods.
Rod is a Shimano taipan extreme mated with a shimano sedona 5000 loaded with 20lb braid. I've currently got 40lb leader on (not sure if that's overkill or not).
Intend initially using it with a dual 5/0 6/0 jig for snapper; any recommendations for sinker size using in say 4-6m of water?

Leader is ok imo as for sinker light as possible, i use small ball sinker that you would use as a running sinker for whiting, the rull for sinker size is: smallest that will hold you bait on the bottom, stronger current bigger sinker.
How much did the new outfit cost? I want a couple of heavier rods myself.

The rod and reel were about $145 total and the braid just over $30.peatop wrote:How much did the new outfit cost? I want a couple of heavier rods myself.

Picked up an early Christmas present on the second hand market, can't wait to get it delivered and get it out in the surf for a run.
Bonus points if you know what it is from this pic alone...
We've also hired a new member of staff at the office, he did well at interview but then promptly dozed off. It remains to be seen how he will go at the first training day

Ah, really.Bonus points if you know what it is from this pic alone...
That brown thing looks like a bit of 'pointer' bait.
What do I win?
PS Should have been a bit more precise. Blue or white (pointer), both would enjoy the snack.
