Just got my birthday present :yahoo: Brand new Penn Conquer 2000. Awesome looking reel, a little heavier than most top quality reels but not enough to worry about. It has a great feature for kayak fishers in that it has a one screw access on the bottom of the reel to be able to oil and clean all moving parts. Just loaded it up with 8lb braid now just to give it a work out  If anyone could post a picture of it for me that would be great.

I just bought a new kayak carrier... a Toyota Kluger. Should make lifting the Outback onto the roof a little more difficult but fewer space restrictions for all the gear in the back. Get it next week.

Picked a Stradic 2500 Ci4 with some fireline, vanish f/c leader and some hardbodies. :yahoo: Ordered through http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/ who I found to be competitive and very efficient to deal with. Even with the shipping costs it was a pretty good deal, I recon the line was about half price, the Rapala X-Rap deeps were 8 bucks, so gotta be happy with that.

In order to deal with the guilt of depriving the local tacke outlets and still needing a rod to match it to, I went out this morining and picked up a Nitro Voodoo split butt 3-5 kilo stick. Should be a awesome combo for the Yak, can't wait to christen it.

well some thing I had thought about for a while but Craigs post of a paddle failing - http://www.vyak.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3837

that sealed the deal so this morning I bought a new 1 piece paddle and the 2 piece one that I have been using will slide in the hull as a spare motor

the new paddle has white blades I figure at night with my over head lamp they should stand out while paddling more so from behind - hopefully the stink boats will see it easier

I've been wanting one of these for a while now ...

Just sold some stuff on ebay, so now I've bought myself one in the 2000 size. :yahoo:

There's only a fine distinction between fly fishing and standing on the bank looking like an idiot.
