I remember reading about the same thin in a more reputable outlet so it probably isn't entirely bullshit. Facial recognition has certainly come far enough that our border security authorities are happy to use it in airports here so it's certainly plausible that if you stick enough decent cameras around the place they could ID you and track your movements.

Rumour is they’re building a social ranking system around this as well, skip out on a bill and watch your ranking drop, serious black mirror flashbacks
