12Ft Thresher Shark

Post by Yako »

This bloke in America allegedly pulled in a 12ft thresher shark in his Outback & was struggling to get back to shore when some blokes in a boat came past & gave him a hand.

Wouldn't it be longer than the yak if it was 12 foot?

Yeah I asked that question as the OB is only 12.1ft but someone else reckons he chopped the tail off as they supposedly quite long???

This was caught at Mt Eliza a few years ago from an Adventure - 16 foot yak. So a 12 foot Thresher if you include the tail is not that long. Looking at the pics above, the tail is still on the fish so I have no doubt it is longer than the Outback.

Dave Low also hooked one in the same area on a tolled lure around the same time and lost it after it jumped.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

In the days when I used to fish sharks, Makos were No. 1, and Threshers were not far behind.

That is what I will be doing, if I am lucky enough to cross paths with one again. But then, I like eating fresh salmon and gummys are not that appealing to me, so don't take my word for it. Others may have different opinions.
