Curing veritgo in 12 months

Post by Bomber James »

Anybody had Vertigo?
Its bloody aweful .
I have finally got on top of the symptons and found some unique remedies which has vastly improved my quality of life.
Look up Vertigo if you don't know what it is,Its is a S#!^ to experience.
As a healthy 45 old man to wake up with no sense of balance and eyes darting all over the place, sweating and wanting to throw up was very confusing and confronting.
How did I get Vertigo?
It just happened, got no idea how it occurred and have never received an answer.
How its affected me?
Big time for 8 months, very unstable walking ,and at work was a nightmare working on ladders as a painter.
Ive done stacks of research and created my own cured after various medication not working.
Im happy to provide tips that helped me ,it might not help everybody who has had Vertigo since there is various forms of this nasty viral infection.
cheers

Yep I both Meniere's Disease and BPPV. Had 'em for a while....bloody shitful!

It's why I gave up kayaking as it was too darn dangerous out there with bouts of vertigo happening at random times. I got caught on the Nicho with a bad episode and it frightened the hell out of me! I was on my own and getting the yak out and loaded was almost impossible. People didn't offer help as I guess they thought I was drunk or something.

I never want to go through that again!

Mine it's believed is a result of severe ear damage in Vietnam with things making a loud bang far too close to me and my hearing is on a slippery slope!

Medication has been helpful (Serc) and if I take a Stemetil (anti nausea) tablets help if taken the instant the first symptoms show up, depending on the initial problem. Meniere's Disease is from damage caused to the fine hairs in your ears and the above medications can help you. BPPV (Benign Positional Paroxysmal Vertigo) is another matter!

BPPV is also known as "ear rocks" and is most likely caused by an impact to the head, or by being close to an explosion which causes calcium to break off and float around your balance canal. That means that any movement can cause INSTANT severe nausea and unbalance. This one is a real bitch! Moving your eyes or turning your head can bring on an attack! Now there is some good news because it can be treated and even cured, though not so for me unfortunately.

If you haven't already seen an ENT then I'd highly recommend that you do! If you are diagnosed with BPPV then there are exercises that MAY fix it, so well worth following up.

I now have low level vertigo all the time and have difficulty with balance and heights. Can't even change a light bulb!

I am fortunate as I can control the severity of the Meniere's with self hypnosis, I still have difficulty but it's not quite as bad. It's worth mentioning that I have also cured insomnia, depression (improved), motivation and can control bad arthritic pain in my hands and a moderate lower back pain as well. Bloody amazing how powerful your mind is when you explore it's potential~

Good luck Mark and talk to me if you think I can help.

I had exactly that and as soon as I opened my eyes or made the slightest movement I would start to spin out and vomit. It took about 6 months to get over the worst of it and another 6-8 months to clear up .... although I still get dizzy spells regularly. Done a ton of research and found out that once you have had it you are more likely to get it again.
Most times when the Doctor checks for it, they lay you on your side and sit you up quick and watch your eyes as they will flick side to side, my wife had the rarer one, her eyes would roll up and down. Sally went to a physio who specialists in vertigo, she had to do a lot of balance stuff to "retrain her brain" as it's confused and doesn't know which way is up/down/sideways.
I NEVER EVER want it as bad as that EVER again.
Cheers Gary...

My wife gets it occasionally and it really knocks her around. She now uses a series of exercises that she does when it comes on and it usually subsides quite rapidly.

Sorry to hear that, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Those exercises are usually for BPPV. I use them too when I get an attack.

I've had it since Saturday. Saw the GP yesterday and started taking Stemetil.
She's also reccomended these side to side exercises to break down/move these crystals in inner ear. It's worse today but I'll keep at it.

Any more tips to improve it would be great

If you do the exercises for a few days it will likely settle down but the problem is that it can come back at any time. Or just keep doing the exercises for as long as it takes until it does ease off.

I carry Stemitil with me at all times and the first flash of giddy I take one....if you wait it is likely too late! Fortunately they will dissolve on your tongue so no water needed. However I mostly go and lie down for a half an hour until it passes and I can't say that Stemitil will help if you keep going. I just haven't tried it. Make sure you have the medication with you when you are on your kayak because as bad as it is on land, you are totally helpless if it gets you on the water!

I'm really sorry to hear that so many of you in this small place are having difficulty.

If it doesn't ease of get a referral to an ENT specialist to seek further help as symptoms may be attributed to other causes.
