Did you ever keep a record of the serial number?

"It's a 2009 model in Ivory Dune. The serial number is: CCMT7960J809" quoted from a previous post

When looking at the pics and the add, the description of the one for sale, no seat, no drive, it also has remnants of the same outrigers, if it's not it, it's a damn twin ;) if someone can go visit and discreetly check that serial no, then drive down the street and ring the cops ;) better to catch the culprit than let them get away with it.

Anyone want to get a mob together, with burning torches and pitchforks and head down to Brighton?

It'd be a real pity to let the b*stards get away with it, since it's rare to ever track down a stolen yak.

If anyone has any better suggestions, please feel free to comment...

Cheers,

Mike.
My first suggestion is the seller is likely to the buyer who bought if from the thief rather than the thief, so proceed with caution with those torches and pitchforks.

My other thought is the seller may be reading all about it in Vyak. The time to do something may be a couple of days ago.

True. But I've exhausted pretty much all my options, which I why I resurrected this thread.

Hopefully Marcus gets to hear about it.

I have all the info, plus some other distinguishing features, recorded.

The current owner may not be the thief, but the biggest road-block is that I don't have any connect with the person who had the yak nicked from them.

I doubt that the local cops would have much interest in trying to dig up records of a (minor) crime that occurred almost 4 years ago in a different district. :-(

Mingle you have enough information to give the police for them to find the owner. Place of theft, serial no, make and model of yak, i understand that this may not be the guy who stole it, however if it is the stolen yak and it isn't the guy that stole it there really is no issue with him, but there is a very good chance the police can trace it back to the person who stole it in the first place, there is also a very good chance they can track down the owner, they would have real name, phone no and address at the time. If it was local to me i wouldn't hesitate to go check it out and get the serial no, then if it matched i would finish up looking, negotiate with the guy, then say im of to the bank, drive down the road and ring the cops, if you report a crime at a location like that, they have to respond, if they haven't already from your original contract, if you dont want to get that far involved, all good, no one can blame you for that ;)

On a different subject. Since you have a PHD you really should change your nick to Dr mingle :yahoo: lol

Mingle do you have the original receipt? I would ring the police and tell them it's yours.

Nah, I bought it s/h from a woman in Rosebud in 2010 (I think).

I'll pop into my local cop-shop and ask them is there's anything they can do.

Cheers,

Mike.
