Hi from Geelong...

New to the forum & have recently acquired a PA12. Have been going off Torquay Fishos & St Leanords. Not having a lot of luck so hoping I can grab some useful tips from more experienced. Been mostly trying soft plastics & squid jigs, so need to try bait I’m thinking :)
Looking for any guide or advice on where to start reading on this forum. Also trying to find any sort of fishing kayak clubs or groups that go out?
Cheers.

Hi Jason,
Welcome, im in clifton springs and go out to channel marker 18 for bigger fish and anywhere you can see weed for squid, st leonards is good for squid and anything, although i tend to only go there for squid, im waiting on a sounder before i do any traveling to far away from here, a group of us went out off Torquay mid December hoping the fads had been installed but we were to early, read up on the safety section and join in whenever you can ;) keep your eyes on the fishing trips and fishing reports, i go out whenever the weather permits and im feeling upto it.

Hi Jason,
Welcome to Vyak,
I did a kayak fishing course with East Coast Kayak out of Sandringham when I first got into the sport.
Like you, I also tried to find a kayak fishing club, but was told there are none -
The closest you will get is this Forum or a Facebook based group called Victorian Kayak Anglers.
There are however some local angling clubs with strong Kayak fishing membership.
Sandringham Anglers is one on the east side but I don't know of any in/near Geelong

I'm from the east side but there are plenty of Westys on the forum who often post fishing trips and invite others to join them

or trip reports will give you an idea on where people have been going and what they have been catching.

After reading a few reports and deciding where you want to go you could even post your own fishing trip and may find others who will join you.
Plan your own trip to somewhere you haven't been by using the launching sites link.

or another option for the West side is a Kayak fishing course with Eoin from Seasherpa.

Congrats on your acquisition, Enjoy the PA12, might see you on the water one day.

Guys, just wanted to say a big thanks on the replies. I did reply the same day but got a bunch of server errors so decided to wait & try again.
Some great tips & will definitely look into the Seasherpa course as an intro.
Cheers,
Jason
