Looking awesome, there's something about a nicely finished wooden craft that does something for me

hopefully before that to practice up for the next paddle challenge - it's not quite wide and stable enough to fish from

quite a bit more I'll sit down and update this soon - I have 1 hatch surround to Finnish and some work around the rudder pivot hatch/ port and fit the rudder pivot in the hull ( it's getting an inboard rudder like a stealth )
and then the deck and hull can go together

I have pics but has been slack posting

It's been a while since posting an update so here goes

the deck was stained with a maple colour and of cause glassed inside and out

Image

Image

this gives a 2 tone with the deck quite a bit lighter than the hull

from there I cut hatch holes front and rear of the deck and included the port from the rudder control

Image

Image
the rear hole is for the rudder case and control

I also trimmed the cockpit hole and laminated the riser from 3 layers of 6 mm marine ply - done in 2 halfs it was the easiest way to conform with the deck

Image

both halfs were fitted together and the top of the coaming fitted and glued in place

Image

final shaping and cleanup needs to be done to the coaming before it gets glued down and glassed to the deck

the front hatch now has a seal lip finished and the piece of deck that was cut to build the hatch fits up

Image

theres still some hatch work to do around the rear of the deck but it's not far away from joining deck and hull

Is this your first attempt at building a watercraft Cheater?
