pretty much and first real wood project and yes first go at building a kayak , so it's a learning curve - never worked with Epoxy ether
everything is slower than welding

Hmm i don't know about that, when i worked at cogee beach on the tugs, they seemed to take forever to complete lol
Yah as Eoin says the apoxy goes off real quick once the temp gets higher than 25c then as it gets hotter you need to cool the workshop down to make it more manageable as it goes of to fast.

Update time ----

with the Gippsland Paddle Challenge getting closer I thought I better do some more work on the kayak build - I have been a little slack working on it

so Saturday I cleaned up the coming , that was a fair bit of sanding and some grinding then glued it onto the deck with some epoxy and wood flour mix

Image

then Sunday more cleaning up and more sanding on the coming putting a nice radius around the inside - I will run a layer of glass over it hopefully this week

Image

Image

I have cut out and glued the rear hatch seal backing and also the same step for the rudder housing cover

Image

not much room for clamps on the steer cover hole

Image

both of these will also get a layer of glass under them again this week and of cause some cleaning up along the top edge

then is only fit the rudder tube and build the housing for the steering mechanism and the deck and hull can be joined up making a kayak

so if all goes well that should be close by the week end

Looking forward to seeing it all finished up :)
Hopefully you can get a few paddles in before the Gippy Challenge.
