I built a cheap bevel tool today to bevel the strips on my strip build a fairly simple process

I grabbed a bit of scarp 40 x 12 aluminium ( some old gunnel rail for a trailer sailor ) a cut section was put on the mill and a 6 mm grove at a 12 deg angle to except the blade ( a cheap 6 mm chisel blade )

Image

the bevel tool had holes drilled and tapped for 2 blade lock screws and another screw to move the blade forward
and a couple of knobs fitted

there still needs a little tweeking with the bottom edge it needs a bit more curve as the blade can be lifted of depending on the curve in the stip that is being worked on
but on the whole it works a treat - the strip gaps are easy closed up with this tool by just running along the last fitted strip and keeping the angle of the bevel plan along the form on the strong back

cost break down about $ 12 for a cheap chisel ( which had the blade cut to length ) so scrap aluminium beside the shed and an hour or so mucking around

A bit of an update the hull is coming along quite well and with a bit of luck the Hull should be finished stripping by the end of this W/E
I must say getting a bit better with this wood lack and have only taken one small piece off a finger with the plane

Really starting to look good.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

Bloody hell that looks impressive. I do work at a lot of houses and it's amazing at some of the stuff you get to see in peoples sheds and this is no exception.

What more impressive is that it is in wood - damm stuff is hard to weld ! before this I really only chopped wood for the fire

With the weather being what it was this W/E gave me plenty of shed time and the hull is all but stripped up .There's just a small section to do and will be done easy through the week

next chore then will be to make cradles to hold the hull up the right way so the deck can be striped
