PA winter mods (pic heavy)

Post by Franko »

I have had a lot of time to mod the PA for a more pleasant fishing experience getting it ready for summer sessions. Here are the photos of what I have accomplished over the past few weeks only thing left is to upgrade my finder to the Garmin striker 5 which I will rail mount.
Bigger rudder and upgraded steering are A1 better easier control in testing conditions it also enabled me to up grade to a boat seat and recline it with slight modifications needed to the frame. this has opened up the deck for better storage even though you lose a horizontal rod holder it is worth the sacrifice.

Sealing the hatch was next and have given it a go by lining the top with a poly foam from Bunnings in addition to this utilized some bungie cord near the sail mast input to pull the hatch down tighter we wil see how it goes.

Permanent fixture for a bailing pump above the battery saves me forgetting it, a quick release plastic buckle makes it a dream to get out. (hopefully, never have to use it)

My ambition to head offshore prompted me to rethink having my Rod holders forward so decided to use a HD railblaza port the awesome thing about this location is drowning a bait the reel is near your elbow and I now can have rods vertical when under way to another fishing location with ease of access. So I lost one horizontal rod holder but gained to vertical ones yeah yeah. With the new holders in place, I had to sacrifice my paddle clip and decided to mount the paddle forward giving me quicker and more secure access to it.

I have also added some foam under the seat for strength and buoyancy in case of an emergency, this left a cavity for a container full of tackle or food without it sliding around the inside of the hull.

The Almighty cooler with a light for snapper gummy bait soaking sessions, super bright and removable it plugs in behind the seat where the old steering plug was located.

What was the rudder upgrade, the sailing rudder, a diy rudder or was it the steering?
