With exams done but the wind blowing, I've been in the shed tinkering. Thought I'd share:
I'm trying my hand at some lure making, starting with a 105mm stick bait. I've made a prototype for testing to experiment with weighting, while also making a master for a mold.
I'm learning as I go, and will probably look at getting some thicker wire. Once I have the design and weighting to my liking I'll look at painting and a nice slow cure, even finish. In the mean time I'm really enjoying carving and watching the designs take shape.
I've also gotten around to making a downrigger. I've made it out of an old ebay combo that doesn't get any use and some PVC pipe. I would probably use breakaway sinkers over the downrigger on more occasions, but the downrigger adds another dimension to my fishing options and will be very useful for targeting trout at places like Bullen Merri and Dartmouth.
