Thanks for chasing it up Josh. Is there any benefit to going for 3mm gauge over 1.6mm?

One thing (maybe I've missed it?) I can't quite understand is how the pedal will be attached to the new crank-arms? I thought the original factory one are machine-pressed into place?

Put me down for a set...

Strength, reduced twisting, higher durabilty especially when drilled. Bugger all in the weight differance.

3mm definitely a better choice. Especially with a flow fin hybrid
Live long, fish hard and hopefully catch something.

Mingle, you'd need to use an alternative bolt in place of the one used by Hobie (look at my old videos and you'll see an example of that). We are looking at included 3 holes in the crank to offer gearing alternatives - one exactly the same height as the Hobie one, one higher and one lower.

The ones I used in the past were 1.6mm from memory and they were awesome (never had any issues whatsoever). Think Marty is going thicker, but not sure exactly what yet.
