So I sold the trusty old Perception Pescadore a few weeks ago so I could stop fantasizing about owning a Hobie. Paid SL Hobie a visit this afternoon and picked up a red 2017 Outback which I am absolutely stoked with. Purchased a few rod extenders and the longer rudder - kept the standard mirage drive for now but will probably get turbo fins down the track.

Just finished installing a Garmin Striker 4 sounder and we are ready to go. Looking forward to hitting PPB tomorrow morning for the maiden voyage!

Good luck mark, I had a ball going from paddles to peddles for the first time, fantastic for working lures

Congrats, great yak. Go the turbo fins, or even better, go straight to the flow fins straight up. The difference with either option is huge, so much better than the standard fins. The flow fins have a slower cadence but more effort. I prefer them over the turbo fins now, but will take a little more effort.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

Hi Mark, l reckon one of the best things to do is fit the rectangle hatch in, gives you so much more space at hand for your gear

I remember back when I joined up and the reports from the famous three red outbacks. Some classic stuff.

Thanks for the tip. Took it out this morning and definitely felt like I could do with some more grunt. I think the standard fins will become backups very soon...
