Re: First post - roof topping

I picked up a second hand Rhino T-load and fitted it to my Falcon wagon on the weekend. I now appreciate how much easier it is to use a trailer. Maybe I was doing it wrong but it was easy enough to load but getting it down was pretty awkward. Might just need a bit of practice. I'm no runt but it was...

Re: First post - roof topping

If you have a look at the VicRoads web site there is info on overhang with trailers. I've been carting my 2 Outbacks on an unregistered 6x4 box trailer and the police havent stopped me but I have been told it should be registered as a boat trailer, and I guess they would be shorter than your yak. C...

Re: First post - roof topping

Thanks for the info Dan, My trailer is registered and I hang an orange flag from the overhanging stern so I might actually be legal. My main reason in wanting to car top it is to have the option to go to launches that don't have trailer parking. Trailering it sure is easy and would probably still be...

Re: Hi from Frankston

Thanks fellas.

Got out for a few hours from Sunnyside this morning. Had a bit of fun with some pinkies (we call them squire up north) on plastics. No size to them but good fun on light gear nonetheless.

Love my yak

Re: First post - roof topping

Cheers Joshua,

Would love to see how you load the PA onto your wagon and secure it. My station wagon is old also. I think my kayak would be worth more if I was to try to sell it.

I'm in Frankston South. Hoping to get out on Sunday morning weather permitting.

Re: First post - roof topping

Thanks for the advice fellas.

I like the idea of the 3rd crossbar at the rear of the wagon that the t-load would provide. I may still end up side loading as you guys do.

I have an old SHS tarp spreader bar that I could definitely make work... It would also look very dodgy...

Hi from Frankston

Hi I'm new here, I'm a long time fisherman and have done most of my fishing in and around Brisbane. School holidays as a kid always involved camping and beach fishing at either North Stradbroke, Moreton or Fraser Island. Before leaving Brisbane I had a little center console that I enjoyed chasing tu...

First post - roof topping

Hello, This is my first post here. I'm a yak noob. I've recently found myself a Hobie Pro Angler 14 and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm currently transporting it on a box trailer but it hangs over the back a fair bit and I'm not sure it is exactly legal. So I'm considering car topping it. I drive a PO...
