Re: Sharks in PPB
Sharks seem to be an ever increasing problem all over OZ. My son is one of lot of hand line commercial fishers in Far North Queensland and when reading their forums they are all having problems with an unprecedented amount of particularly Bull sharks. I asked him when they hang around the boat why d...

Re: Keel Guard
Thanks for the replies. I will be more careful. Ive only had a couple of incidents where I've slid them off the trailer at a boat ramp into shallow water and they have hit the bottom so it started me thinking wotif.

Keel Guard
We have 2016 outbacks that have had a scrape on the tip of the rear keel. Has anyone bought or made a keel guard as I can see over time this could become a problem. Thanks

Re: What if you fish WPB and fall out?
I have been thinking of tethering to the D on the front of my life vest. I used to live at Mission Beach and fished the reef in my boat and have seen the the current on the reef running at about 6 knots on my sounder. In the Hinchinbrook channel off Cardwell I have seen the big channel marker buoys ...

Re: New Outback Trailer
New kayak Trailer now built, the drawbar looks longer in this photo but is longer that normal as I will eventually upgrade to longer hobies. It tows well and is very easy to launch and retrieve especially when you're a bit aged challenged. The boats sit on it very stable and are supported front and ...

Re: First post - roof topping
If you have a look at the VicRoads web site there is info on overhang with trailers. I've been carting my 2 Outbacks on an unregistered 6x4 box trailer and the police havent stopped me but I have been told it should be registered as a boat trailer, and I guess they would be shorter than your yak.

Re: New Outback Trailer
The Outback is not flat but has a slight curve, The rail in the build will not be made until I take the boats up and show them just before trailer completion. At the moment I have them on a box trailer just supported front and back so may go down the same track with 2 short rails in the middle of th...

Re: New Outback Trailer
Thanks for the reply Spider,
I talked to the trailer guy yesterday and we are going for the full length rails, he is going to make them of steel tube curved down a bit at the stern and covered with Teflon strips on top. They will be adjustable, so it should work out OK.

New Outback Trailer
I have designed a trailer to carry our 2 outbacks. These boats will be carried side x side and will fit between the 2 mudguards which will make the trailer 2.3 towing width. The purpose of the side x side is to get the boats as low as possible as age and shoulder problems make it to difficult to lif...
