safety always first mate. im not sure where you got the yak or how much they informed you of safety but definitely want to have a look at the safety section of the forum. lots of great information there. good luck on the fishing mate. but i would advise taking time the first time you go out to learn...
Re: pfd's
on a boat i dont mind the foam ones as much because you have more room to move around. in the yak you dont have much room to move and the foam ones really seem to restrict movement while paddling, turning to grab rods, etc....

i was wondering what kind of pfd everyone recommends. i bought one of the foam ones but find it really bulky when trying to paddle the yak. where can someone get a good inflatable pfd for a good price?

where can i find a good inflatable pfd at a decent price? i have one of the foam ones and it is just way too bulky. makes it a bit hard to paddle at times.

the seat. i hate the way kayak seat are made. they are not made for comfort. especially for someone that is tall with a bad back.

hey while your out you might wanna try some re boarding techniques too. while your still in relatively shallow water its always a good idea to do some re entry just so you know you can do it if or when you have to.
