Re: Altona 3/7/21 Thoughts
If you are new dont go anywhere with winds more than 10 knots, onshore or offshore. Onshore will be too rough and if anything goes wrong with an offshore, you are being blown out into the bay. It will always be windier out there than standing on the beach, and it can always blow up worse, forecasts ...

Re: Quick LangLang Question
Can be done I paddled often without rudder around there, and I know Cheater fished extensively around there for years with no rudder. Its strong wind that makes no rudder hard. Tide flow affects whole kayak evenly so does not affect steering too much. just have to do a bit of ferrying across tide to...

Re: Hi guys. Just joined. Trying to explore Blind Bight.
Just watch the tides at Blind Bight ramp runs out of water around 1,4 m or so. also dont be in the wrong channel when tide gets below 1m (as per willyweather site) or you wont get across the banks. Re: New to Kayaking
Good place to play with your kayak is cambells cove on a high tide, when there is little wind as its shallow a fair way out, so you can practice falling off and getting back in without gettong out of your depth.

Re: where to go - southern winds
Avalon beach is ok on light southerlies. I was out at werribee south today on a surfski and it was rough hardly even any boats out, white caps not kayak fishable, 13knots southerly. Its not just local wind speed, but if its high in the middle of the bay the waves pick up Always somewhere to hide in ...

Re: setting up lowrance to battery
If thats all they did to get it to work then I suggest that one of your connections was not good. The fuse doesnt add anything, other than a few more connections that might be dodgy. It is there to protect your unit in case of battery shorting. Unit works fine without it, its just not protected Welc...

Re: Revo 16 Sounder - Where to put head unit?
Dropping a dagger board in, even if a home made one works wonders for some instant primary stability that you can insert or pull as it suits, also works in place of a drift chute to so slow down side drifts.
